If you even have no idea where it is, let me tell you something first. Tibet is a religious region of China with a long history. Before Chinese government make effort to change it, Tibet used to use a serfdom system(like slavery) where 95% of Zang People were degenerated into serfs and the rest 5% of people were serf owner and Monks. At that time, every temple owned large area of land and groups of serfs. When there was a sacrifice, even serfs and children may be killed and offered to the deity. During 1950s, Land Resolution was carried out by the government to force land owners to free the land, free the serfs and void the debts despite they were not willing to. Maybe the government did use strong power of army at that time to realize the resolution but as a result, most people in Tibet, the serfs, get freedom and land. Other special benefits like tax free policy and fund for education, medical, housing are also offered to the Zang people.(that's why pictures of Chairman Mao are commonly seen hung beside the picture of buddha on the wall of Zang people's house).In the meanwhile the former serf owners and Monks hate the government much because they feel they are deprived of their land and serfs and the worst thing is that their former prior social status is weakened a lot. Some of them keep making troubles there and some left Tibet to show their unsatisfaction.



Chinese government builds many schools and hospitals in Tibet to make people civilized and educated. People, especially young ones, realize that they learn science to harvest more and get cured in the hospital when they fall ill rather than knock their heads to ground thousands of times in the temple or sacrifice cattle or sheep to the Monks, even they were starving by then. This makes former serf owners and Monks even less happy. In practice, most of the pro-Tibetan protestors are Monks or descendant of serf owners. That is also the reason why most Zang people in Tibet are not very supportive to the independence protest. You maybe not believe what I said and thought I am just one of the brainwashed people like the other Chinese. It is totally untrue. Because I do know some Zang People. The Zang People I know are students who studied in the school where my mum worked. They are sponsored by the government to receive better education in the city where I lived . If you think all the good things the government have done is just a made-up story, do you think it is necessary for the government to make such a lie alive in front of me? It does not make sense.



Let's have a retrospect of the news yesterday. One pro-Tibetan protestors say" we need help...50% of our people are in prison..." It is so ridiculous!!!! Do you have a idea how much is GDP of Tibet?? Pretty much the GDP of Queensland. Do you know what is population of Tibet? little more than 2.6 million. If 50% of people in prison, is there any chance that 1.3 million people work to make GDP that high? Oh, yeah, China is growing fast today, but any way that fast??? I really doubt.




The pro-Tibetan protestors also say "many people were killed...many many people..." Whats the hell you are talking about! You are the one who kills people in Tibet. See what happened at 14th March in Tibet people were beaten or killed by the Tibetan Terrorists. Who are the terrorists? It is you! See who attacked the disable girl who was sitting in the wheelchair and bravely protect the Olympic torch in France? Still You! See who made order to peel children’s skin for 14th Dalai's birthday(his own written order is shown in the Tibet museum)? Dalai rioter!



Ok. How would the other supporters like to help them? Help them to change their society back to serfdom? help them crash schools and hospitals like what they did on 14 March in Tibet? If you are not sure, please do not just easily say "Free Tibet".





I also feel sad when someone tell me that you are just brainwashed by your government. Actually, you know what, I feel it


exactly the opposite way.



It is true that sometimes Chinese government didn't report some bad news, but(a big but~) we always know about the news, because people know it from internet. Chinese love BBS,too. BBS in China is used much much more widely.News is always threaded timely, no matter whether it is good or bad, and people discuss it and post their opinions, no matter how ridiculous or reasonable they are. Yeah, sometimes the information is partial,obsolete or even a lie. But bing! Some one will point out quickly and show the evidence. People get confused at first but always able to get the truth eventually. Anyway, at least people will get different opinions and enough information to make their own judgement. Have we be brainwashed? Not so easy.



If we say TV in China does not tell the truth, well, yesterday's TV report also transfer a partial idea to the public. Although no remarks were given, the selective information do have effect on people.



Take another example from a recent case. I saw a video on YOUTUBE recently about Olympic Torch in Paris. Everyone saw the video without knowing anything will feel that it was totally unreasonable and ridiculous that the Chinese torchbearer just went up there and distinguish the flame, leaving the Paris offers innocently confused there. However, the truth is if the filmer raised the camera a little bit higher, you will see there were a significant number of flags hung in the windows around the city hall silently showing their "Free Tibet" protest. Protest is ok, but protest by Paris City Hall, a part of government of a foreigh country, has obviousely crossed the line, while the video just unfairly shows the flame was distinguished for no reason.



Apart from nasty political reasons, indeed, news about someone who needs help or some people suffering in another country always sounds more interesting to TV watchers. So the reporter usually prefer to broadcast the more "interesting" part to public. Like this time, long time talk by someone calling "Need help! blablabla..." Almost nothing that someone say "Tibet is a part of China"

World and their people deserve an honest and unbiased opinion from media, not only about China, but everything.



So after reading this(Thks for being so patient~), if you feel not sure about what I said or have a doubt about what you previously heard, plz do not make your judgment quickly. It doesn't hurt if you just be quiet.



Or, just go to Tibet and see with your own eyes. Will you believe people were oppressed and suffering in such a beautiful and peaceful world?



Anyway, Torch relay is only a small part of Olympics and it is the Olympic games that are the essence. But now the torch relay becomes such a big deal. It is so ironic. But don't blame too many pro-China Chinese went to Canberra today. They just get hurt and learned the lesson from Paris.



Hope the trip for torch relay would go on peacefully and the trouble makers could have a break at least this moment so that everyone can just stop worrying about everything and safely sit there enjoying the fantastic games.
